A native bushland setting with significant fall, overlooking an idyllic creek reserve to the outer southeast of Waverley.
The brief being to provide a modern flow of space through the site for the young family's needs and to enhance how they may better engage with the surrounding native flora.
The client was local to the area and having grown up in a modernist 70’s style family home reminisced of an open plan layout with clean lines and articulate design features throughout.
The design presents a cascading flow between spaces through the site so as to provide a variety of intimate vistas for the viewer to further engage with the outdoor environment.
A natural rammed earth wall conceals the front elevation, grounding the building to the site whilst also extending its form between spaces to the bushland beyond.
A separate parents retreat adjacent the front entry is concealed behind the rammed earth wall, providing a generous space with ensuite and an outdoor terrace area.
A kids zone comprising two generous rooms + sitting area and bathroom to the central mid level enjoys its own outdoor terraced courtyard.
The open plan living, dining, kitchen space to the lower level to the rear of the site extends to a generous deck area and further engages with the adjacent bushland reserve.
